In English system common unit for pressure is pound per square inch (psi). 1 psi = 6.895 k Pa

In vacuum measurement unit used is Torr.

1 Torr = 133.3 Pa

Other common unit is Bar = 1 Bar = 100 k Pa

Measurement of Pressure :

One of the direct applications of the equation of Fluid Static we have derived is in the devices used to measure pressure. Now it is necessary to recall that we have an Absolute Pressure and a Gauge Pressure. We not that pressure is always measured as a difference or with respect to a datum or reference.

Absolute pressure is measured relative to a perfect vacuum, whereas gauge pressure is measured relative to atmospheric pressure. Further, Absolute pressure is the sum of atmospheric pressure and the gauge pressure, see the figure.
